Missions


Otterbein United Methodist Church is committed to outreach both in our local community and beyond. Our local church Mission Statement is:
We put God first, others second and ourselves last.  We are sharing Christ's love in a changing world.

We support local and national missions. 

Currently collecting non-perishable food items for area food banks on the first Sunday of each month.

Among our many missions are:

30 Hour Famine (World Vision)

Benevolent Homes

Blanket Sunday

Harvest Home - collect canned goods and non perishables for local food banks

Heifer International

Meal Ministry - for people in need (anytime)

Mission Central - both monetary and volunteering

Missionary Elizabeth Nichols in Rocky Mounts, Virginia

Mission Trips - Members of the congregation have been to Mississippi, Louisiana, North Carolina, Maryland and to Bolivia, South America and the Bahamas.

Outreach Uganda

Peace with Justice

Planted Corn Patch - 
Delivered over 500 dozen ears of corn in 2013, 2014 and 2015.  Garden expanded to red and sweet potatoes.  Raised and gave away over 35 - 5 gallon buckets in 2013. 
                                    Delivered over 400 dozen ears of corn in 2011 and 2012 to neighbors, friends of the church and local food banks

Prayer Shawl Ministry - Prayer shawls are given to members/friends of the church to provide a constant reminder of the care and concern of the congregation. 

Prison Ministry

Samaritan's Purse - we filled 61 boxes and raised $256 in 2015,  35 boxes and raised $135 in 2013, 52 in 2012, 64 in 2011 and 67 shoe boxes in 2010
